Chasing Amanda was a surprisingly engaging read.To be honest, I wasn't sure how i would feel about this book. I bought it because the author is on my friends list on face book (lol) and i wanted to support her. Imagine my surprise when I found i loved the story!
the characters were well developed and while you don't know all of their individual stories you feel as if you do. You feel like you've been next door to our heroine Molly for a lifetime. All the characters are multi dimensional.
Through out the book you naturally are trying to figure out who the abductor is. You are certain you know but then nope you don't so ok it has to be this person! I'm not a spoiler person so let it suffice to say its really not who you think it is!
Melissa Foster has done a phenomenal job with this tale. Take the plunge and pick this one up. for under $3 what is there to lose!

Chasing Amanda Mystery / Suspense edition by Melissa Foster Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I could not put this book down! I stayed up reading as fast as I could; yet, not wanting the story to end. I will DEFINITELY be reading ALL of Foster's books! Her writing style is my absolute favorite - constant action and believable characters. Thanks Melissa Foster for the best book I've read in a long time!!!!!
Melissa Foster keeps the reader guessing as her lead character refuses to give up the search for a missing child after being haunted by an abduction she failed to do anything about years ago. Along the way, other deep secrets of the town are uncovered, and resolution brought to several other unsolved mysteries due to the lead character's determination. It's difficult to say more without spoiling the journey, but it is definitely one worth taking. However, at points, so many revelations unraveled that keeping them pieced together made my head spin... but read carefully and all will become clear by the end.
This was a good read. Surprising twists and turns kept me reading. The answers to the mystery always seemed right around the corner. Sometimes this author writes in confusing sentences, causing me to reread what written. Even so I liked the story. This was the second book I have read by this author.
Reading through this book, the reader will be tempted to think the clues are too obvious and the story too simple to be considered anything but just another simple story. However, in this story, a young girl is abducted and the main character is receiving images in her head that provide hints at where the girl might be. While the clues and actions of people appear to obviously point toward the abductor, the reader is compelled to complete the story just to see how the author allows the child to be found and bring events to a satisfactory conclusion. However, the author has several twists in store, and the reader most likely will not predict the conclusion, though all the clues are there.
There are a couple aspects that leave the reader wondering. Without revealing too much, the involvement of a familiar playmate seems a bit discrepant with the conclusion's explanation, and there is a noticeable absence of information in the conclusion about a vagrant-type of man that is mentioned only once in the book but should be explained better in the end--and there is also no mention in the denoument of the local couple that provides a great deal of help in figuring out the clues. However, while the reader may want to know more of these people, the conclusion satisfactorily brings closure for the town that has unsuccessfully sought Tracey.
Recommended for those who like a good mystery without minding an element of psychic insight enhancing the story line.
I have to say the premise of this book was pretty cool and Foster does a good job of weaving in tension and letting the reader in on the plot fast enough to hook our attention. I liked Molly, and I could identify with her pain even though clairvoyance is something that's so far removed from my daily life. So huge kudos to Foster on that.
The reason I didn't give it more than 3 stars was because I felt the writing was riddled with grammatical errors that really pulled me out of the story. This felt like it was going to be an awesome read - and it would've been, if not for writing that, with a little more care, could have been far superior to what it was.
I'll definitely be buying more of Foster's books, because she has the talent and, I believe, a good chance of getting better. Maybe she just needs another editor or better proof readers?
Molly witnesses a child being abducted and doesn't realize until days later when the child's face flashes across the tv. Dead. Murdered. Her motherly guilt turns into torment and grows to the point of agonizing. She almost loses her husband, her family and herself.
A move seemed just the thing to help rebuild her families lives, and it does, but then another little girl goes missing. Molly sees visions, has nightmares. She can't let it happen again. This time she refuses to sit back and watch. She struggles to get her husband to believe in her. But with or without him, she refuses to give up until she finds the little girl.
But will she be too late?
The twist at the end is sure to get you spinning!!
An outstanding read by an author with a real flare for characterization. Writing in the mind of a little girl isn't an easy thing to do, but Melissa Foster does it brilliantly, showing how easily a child could become reliant on an adult who stole her away. Scary, believable and true.
A wonderful summer read!!
Melissa Foster has a rare gift for pulling you into her characters' convoluted worlds. Her characters' gifts include the ability to know and feel the agony of others. In CHASING AMANDA, a precious child is abducted, and the only hope lies with Molly whose inner sight gives her incomplete but heart-rending bits of information - the stuff of nightmares. Will Molly be able to fight her own inner demons, overcome her husband's opposition to her involvement and solve the mystery before the child dies?
Novelist Melissa Foster sets a fast pace right from the start and does a super job on this deep psychological study and hard-driven thriller. Don't miss CHASING AMANDA!
